How to run a break & stream the races on OBS / Whatnot

The races, wheel, and dice are built to run inside an OBS Browser Source so you can overlay them on your Whatnot / YouTube / Twitch broadcast. Here's the drop-in setup.

      1. Run a race on air

      1. Paste the team / buyer / spot names into the race textarea — one per line, or comma-separated.
      2. Pick the Race length in seconds or minutes (e.g. 30s for a tight finish, 2min for long break suspense).
      3. Hit Shuffle if you want the starting order scrambled first.
      4. Hit Start Race. Winner + full standings show below when the race ends.

      2. Open broadcast mode

      1. On either race card, click 📺 OBS / Stream. A new tab opens in broadcast mode (no nav, no footer, chroma-green background, autostart on load).
      2. In that tab, press Space to start, R to reset with a fresh random finish, Esc to close.
      3. Copy that tab's URL — that's the link you'll paste into OBS.

      3. Add to OBS as a Browser Source

      1. In OBS: + → Browser → name it "Horse Race" (or "Turtle Race").
      2. URL: paste the broadcast URL you copied.
      3. Width 1920, Height 1080. Check "Shutdown source when not visible" if you don't want it running in the background.
      4. Click OK, then drag the source onto your scene. Resize as needed.

      4. Remove the green background

      1. Right-click the Browser Source → Filters → Effect Filters → + → Chroma Key.
      2. Color: Green. Similarity ≈ 400, Smoothness ≈ 80. The green disappears and only the race shows over your camera.
      3. Prefer no background at all? Change the URL param to bg=transparent and enable OBS's "Custom CSS: transparent page background" — or use the blue variant bg=chroma-blue if your camera has green in it.

      5. Send OBS to Whatnot

      1. In Whatnot's Live Seller tool, switch your stream input to OBS / RTMP. Whatnot gives you a Stream Key.
      2. In OBS: Settings → Stream → Service: Custom. Server & Key from Whatnot.
      3. Click Start Streaming in OBS, then go live on Whatnot. Your race overlay goes out with the rest of your scene.

Same flow works for Twitch, YouTube Live, Kick, etc. — just point OBS at that service's key.

      6. Broadcast URL cheatsheet

All params are optional. Combine freely.

      • ?obs=horse, ?obs=turtle, or ?obs=wheel — which tool to show
      • &bg=chroma (green), chroma-blue, transparent, black, scene
      • &autostart=1 — start the race the moment the page loads (races only)
      • Wheel: Space / Enter spins. Winners are removed from the wheel automatically.

      Copy-ready horse URL:

      Copy-ready turtle URL:

      https://hobbysyndicate.com/breaker-tools.html?obs=turtle&bg=chroma&autostart=1

      Copy-ready wheel URL:

      7. Install Hobby Syndicate as an app

      • Desktop (Chrome / Edge): click the install icon in the URL bar, or use the floating Install App button in the bottom-right.
      • iPhone / iPad: Share → Add to Home Screen.
      • Android: menu → Install app.

Once installed, the breaker tools work offline and launch in their own window — handy while streaming.
